Cisco AnyConnect for Linux
Linux Requirements
- x86 instruction set.
- 64-bit processor.
- 32 MB RAM.
- 20 MB hard disk space.
- Superuser privileges are required for installation.
- libstdc++ users must have libstdc++.so.6(GLIBCXX_3.4) or higher, but below version 4.
- Java 5 (1.5) or later. The only version that works for web installation is Sun Java. You must install Sun Java and configure your browser to use that instead of the default package.
- zlib - to support SSL deflate compression
- xterm - only required if you're doing initial deployment of AnyConnect via Weblaunch from ASA clientless portal.
- gtk 2.0.0.
- gdk 2.0.0.
- libpango 1.0.
- iptables 1.2.7a or later.
- tun module supplied with kernel 2.4.21 or 2.6.
Download the according Cisco AnyConnect Software from the download page.
Open the terminal and unzip the file with the command tar xvzf anyconnect-predeploy-linux-versionsnummer.tar.gz
Change to SuperUser and type in the password. Afterwards change to the directory vpn. Install AnyConnect with the command ./vpn_install.sh
The intallation will be applied.
Please start AnyConnect. You'll find it in the menu Internet. (Otherwise you can start it in a terminal window by entering /opt/cisco/anyconnect/bin/vpnui )
Please fill in the VPN gateway URL vpn2.zih.tu-dresden.de in the field Connect to. Now click on Connect.
Put in your ZIG login login@tu-dresden.de (bzw. Ihre VPN-Gruppe) in the field Username and your password in Password.
You have the following options in the field Group: Please click on Connect afterwards.
TUD-vpn-all - the whole internet traffic happens via VPN (recommended)
TUD-vpn-split-campus - the internet traffic to the TU Dresden networks happens via VPN, the other traffic happens via the normal internet connection
TUD-vpn-lic - access just for Mathcad
After creating the VPN connection, you'll be asigned an IP address from within the regarding TU Dresden network. You'll find a lock symbol in the Windows systray.
To close the VPN connection, click on the symbol in the systray and click on Disconnect.
