Other important contacts and partners
At the beginning of your studies and during your studies there are many other partners, institutions and initiatives that support you.
We have created a collection so that you can inform yourself about them:
International Tutor Program
In the International Tutor Program of the International Office, experienced students (= tutors) help foreign applicants and students. The goal of the tutor program is to support international students before and during their studies. The support is particularly intensive at the start of studies at TU Dresden. It does not matter whether you start in the first or in a higher semester.
Mentoring and Buddy Programs
Mentoring at TU Dresden is designed to support students from the start of their studies to the beginning of their careers. With the mentors, the perspectives and possibilities of the studies are discovered and discussed.
Study Success Projects
TU Dresden would like to accompany its students with its diverse and innovative offers on their individual way to academic success. Through a variety of projects, students are supported with different measures before and during their studies.
Language training
Within the framework of the TU Dresden language training, TUDIAS offers students of all disciplines general and specialized language training in 16 languages during their studies. Each student can take 10 SWS (semester hours per week) = 150 hours of foreign language training free of charge. Information on compulsory language training is contained in the respective study and examination regulations.
Student Council
The Student Council represents the interests of the students of the TU Dresden and is composed of representatives of the student councils.
Student representative council
The student body is subdivided into student councils, mostly corresponding to the faculties. Each student body is represented by its own student council.
The student council is the first point of contact for students who have problems with their studies and provides support during the first week of orientation at the university.
University groups
Students are involved in numerous university groups on a voluntary basis in addition to their studies. The wide spectrum ranges from political to trade union university groups, but a variety of technical, social or culturally oriented ones can also be found.
Family-friendly university
TU Dresden has been certified as a family-friendly university since 2007. Our concern is to support students and employees in reconciling work/study and family. For us, family means not only parenthood, but also caring for (grand)parents and life partners. Therefore, TU Dresden already provides its students and employees with a whole range of support services, which are continuously being expanded.
Artistic groups
At the TU Dresden there are various opportunities to actively engage in artistic activities or to enjoy performances, demonstrations, concerts, exhibitions and much more. Students, members of the university and alumni are involved in the artistic groups.
Sports offers
Thinking needs movement - under this motto, more than 500 course instructors at the Dresden University Sports Center strive to keep students physically fit and healthy every semester. 600 different courses with sports ranging from aerobics to yoga enable sweaty training as well as relaxation and switching off from everyday university life.
