With the “Leading Successfully at TU Dresden” program, we would like to support you in your leadership role at TU Dresden as you navigate your day-to-day tasks.
The aim of the program is to strengthen and further develop your leadership skills with specific further training and consulting offers as well as networking opportunities, and to make the TUD's leadership guidelines known and encourage their implementation in everyday working life.
In addition, you have the opportunity to acquire a certificate as part of the training program in order to be able to deal even more comprehensively with your leadership role and to be accompanied in the transfer to your everyday working life.
Please note that most of the program is in German language.
Certificate program "Leading Successfully at TU Dresden"
The certificate program...
- is diverse: You will receive a wide range of coordinated workshops, lectures, e-learning courses and individual coaching.
- has a multiplicative effect: All further training courses are designed in accordance with the leadership guidelines as a result of the TU Dresden leadership culture project and thus contribute to the implementation of the guidelines and the further development of the leadership culture.
- contributes to career advancement: You will receive a certificate for participating in the program. (Note: Further training courses already attended can be credited!)
- is sustainable: Participants in the program are professionally and individually supported in transferring the acquired skills to their everyday work.
Program structure
The program consists of the basic module Leadership Skills or the Crash Course Leadership, in-depth workshops and lectures, a reflection task and consulting services. You will receive all the information about the certificate and discuss your individual requirements in a consultation.
The basic module is offered annually alternating set groups for professors and for all other executives at TU Dresden. It consists of three courses, which focus on the basics of team leadership and development as well as leadership communication. Participants complete all lectures in a set group. This achieves continuity in learning and supports networking with colleagues. As such, the basic module also serves to develop and expand active networking within TU Dresden. An introduction to peer advisory schemes encourages the participants to continue their discussion beyond the foundation module.
The leadership crash course is designed especially for executives who have no authority to issue instructions to other employees (e.g. project leaders) and provides insight into leadership basics and peer advidory schemes.
The advanced workshops provide application-oriented instruction on concrete leadership topics. You can register for individual workshops as suits your needs. Please note workshops are held in German.
As part of a reflection task, you will reflect on aspects of your leadership behavior that are relevant to you and set yourself goals for your day-to-day leadership. You will reflect on your results with an external coach in an individual coaching session.
The Center for Continuing Education will support you during the certificate program and is available for advice.

We are happy to advise you on issues related to your daily work as a leader and to work with you to develop ideas and measures that you can put into practice. We are here to advise you on qualification opportunities for you and your employees, team development and solving conflicts within your team. In a face-to-face meeting, we will identify which support services are available and which tools could be best suitable for you.
