Successful certification in the "Shaping diversity" audit
On March 6, 2024, TU Dresden was awarded the certificate for the successful completion of the "Shaping Diversity" audit. On behalf of TU Dresden, Professor Roswitha Böhm, Vice-Rector for University Culture, Dr. Sylvi Bianchin, Head of Diversity Management, and Sophie Zimdars, coordinator of the audit, accepted the certificate from the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft in Berlin.
The "Shaping Diversity" audit, in which over 100 employees from all status groups and TUD students were involved, initiated a process to anchor diversity as a cross-cutting issue. In a two-year participation process, several workshops were held at TUD, needs were identified in topic-specific working groups and measures were derived. With the support of the Diversity Management and the Vice-Rectorate for University Culture, many stakeholders shaped this participatory process.
The result of the audit process is a catalog consisting of 36 measures that sets out concrete proposals for anchoring diversity across the university. The audit also created a space for the exchange of diverse perspectives on diversity, as well as attracting new stakeholders and involving them in the design processes. This promoted greater awareness of the topic of diversity.
Some of the measures developed in the audit have already been initiated. In consultation with the members of the Extended Rectorate, the implementation of further measures will be initiated in the next steps.
