OpenVPN on macOS

ZIH operates an OpenVPN service as an alternative for access to the TU Dresden intranet. The manual explains how to set up the client and how to enable access under Mac OS X.

Obtain an appropriate profile from the OpenVPN profile generator in the Self-Service Portal and save it. Remember the folder in which the file is located.

Download the Tunnelblick OpenVPN client. Open the downloaded DMG file and copy it into the folder with the other applications. 

Open the folder where you saved the configuration file and double-click on the file. This adds the configuration to the program.

Start Tunnelblick. You will now be prompted to enter a username and password. Use your ZIH login here (without @tu-dresden.de or similar extensions) and your password for this login. Click on "OK". Tunnelblick will now connect to the VPN.

As soon as you are connected, the text in the window will turn green.
