Installation unter Windows
Before installation
You must be an administrator to perform the installation to avoid future access problems.
From this point on, it is assumed that the required client data packet ("TIV-TSMBAC-Win.exe") as well as the German locale ("TIV-TSMBAC_DEU-Win.exe") have been downloaded and stored in a folder. In the following example, both files have been saved in the "downloads" folder.
Reinstalling a TSM client
First, go to the folder where you saved the download files.
Then, double-click on the "-TIV-TSMBAC-Win" file to start the installation process. (Attention: The "-TIV-TSMBAC_DEU-Win" (German language-pack) will start first, and errors will occur.)
Note: The version number (the number at the beginning of the file name) may be different. The same applies to "X32".
You must first unpack the client data packet, for which a path must be specified. It is recommended to keep the predefined path. The process starts as soon as you click "nest" (This may take a few minutes).
After the client has been successfully extracted, this window will appear asking your preferred language. Click "OK" after selecting.
The installation wizard has now started. Click on "next>".
Now you have the option to assign an installation path. In this example, the predetermined path is selected. Clik "next>".
It is strongly recommended that you keep the default path.
Chose between standard or manual installation. In this example, the default was selected. Then, click "next>". It is highly recommended to choose the default (standard) installation.
The wizard now has the necessary data. Click "Install" to perform the backup of the client installation.
This process will take a few minutes.
You will receive a confirmation of successful installation. Click "Finish".
Updating a client (Loading a newer version)
- It may be advisable, when changing to a new backup software version, to do so from the very beginning. Please contact us regarding this matter.
- Stop automatic backups.
- It is recommended to ave a copy of the software file (by default C:\Programme\TIVOLI\TSM\baclient\dsm.opt) to another location (folder).
- Subsequently, the TSM software can be completely uninstalled. (Windows software: uninstall - select Tivoli TSM)
- Now the installation of a newer version of TSM can be completed (see above).
