Configuration Overview
The configuration includes all the steps that are required to do an automatic or manually initiated backup and can, if necessary, handle errors. This is to be done after a successful software installation.
1.) Register Client-specific information in configuration files
After software installation, machine-specific adaptions are necessary to ensure that your computer can send data (your backup) to the correct backup server. This specific data necessary for this process was sent to you after your registration with the ZIH. During the backup process, the appropriate configuration files are read from bottom to top. The statement that matches first is executed. To keep backup times short, please keep your instruction list as short as possible.
2.) Automatic Backup
Our recommendation is to configure an automatic backup. When, and only when, automatic backup is configured, you will receive an email regarding the status of backups. If you do not configure automatic backups, you must execute backups regularly yourself.
