STEM Ambassadors
STEM Ambassadors program launched at TU Dresden
Deciding to what to study at university sets the course for your entire future. That’s why TUD hosts a plethora of opportunities and projects that provide information to girls and young women about the degree programs available to them – particularly in fields related to science and technology – before they begin their studies. In these subjects in particular, women are still frequently underrepresented. TUD strives to inform young women about the opportunities available to them and to encourage them to pursue a degree in a technical or scientific field. The numerous projects for boosting the proportion of women in STEM degree programs primarily address central challenges. These include increasing visibility of women role models, disseminating information about future program content as well as practical experience and knowledge of potential areas where STEM subjects can be applied in “real life”. With the STEM Ambassadors project, TU Dresden seeks to put a face to the names of women in science and technology subject areas. STEM Ambassadors are women who study STEM subjects and attend TUD events for potential new students. They also visit schools to explain how they decided on their degree program and offer glimpses into their daily life as students. Of course, these ambassadors also have an insider tip or two up their sleeves for young women who are interested in pursuing a university degree.
I would be happy to put you in contact with STEM Ambassadors to speak at your event!
Also, feel free to peruse our STEM portraits (in German) and get to know our women in STEM.
