FAQ Future Labs 2021
All members of TU Dresden as well as members of DRESDEN-concept are invited to participate in the Future Labs. It is not possible for external persons to participate.
The Future Labs are well-proven formats at TU Dresden to gather, communicate and (continue to) develop ideas, to exchange opinions and experiences, and to provide information about university-wide strategies.
TU Dresden's Extended University Executive Board utilizes these events to present the strategies of the individual areas of responsibility of the University Executive Board and to discuss them with interested members of TU Dresden and of the DRESDEN-concept partner institutions.
A key feature of the new Future Labs is that they will outline what has been achieved as a result of the inputs and outcomes of the 2018 Future Labs.
While the previous Future Labs were conducted in a casual atmosphere, using the large group discussion method "World Café", most Future Labs will now be held online due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
All other characteristic elements, such as the opportunity to participate in various thematic circles or the concept of an open, constructive and respectful exchange, will remain the same in the Future Labs 2021.
Depending on the developments of the pandemic, the Future Labs will be either held online or on-site. For each Future Lab, an invitation will be sent to all members of TU Dresden and the DRESDEN-concept partner institutions, about three weeks prior to the event. At the same time, a detailed program will be published on the Future Labs website. If you wish to participate, you need to register via the online registration form. All participants decide on the thematic group in which they would like to participate at the time of registering. Subsequently, each participant will receive the access link for the online event by email.
After a review of the 2018 Future Labs and following an insight into the current strategies of the individual areas of responsibility of the University Executive Board, specific subtopics will be discussed in various thematic groups or thematic rooms. Two moderators will be awaiting the participants in each of the groups. After about 30 minutes, the participants switch to a new thematic group. At the end of the Future Lab, the results will be summarized.
The key comments, arguments, ideas, etc. will be recorded in the individual discussion rounds in the form of minutes and will then be processed. The results of the various Future Labs will be incorporated into the work of the University Executive Board. An interim status on which impulses will be implemented and in which way will be announced at the final event in fall 2021.
Video recordings and photos will be made primarily for documentation purposes . During the online Future Labs, screenshots can be taken for use in post-event reporting.
During on-site events, video recordings are limited to the opening of the Future Lab and to the summaries, primarily to enable those who did not participate to get an impression of the discussion atmosphere.
It should be emphasized that, of course, no sound recordings will be made of participants taking part in the discussions. The open, trust-based nature of the discussions, which is essential for the success of a Future Lab, will be respected at all times.
