Johanna Weinmeister Campus
Table of contents
The Johanna Weinmeister Campus comprises all projects that inform young women about study opportunities in technical or scientific fields and motivate them to study at TU Dresden.
- Women in STEM degree programs: The number of women opting to study STEM subjects is only growing slowly. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and mathematics. In the 2022/2023 winter semester, the proportion of women studying physics was 25.4 percent, in computer science 20.6 percent, in mechanical engineering 17.8 percent and in electrical engineering 17.3 percent.
- Support on the way to studying a STEM subject: TU Dresden is therefore particularly interested in supporting and encouraging women and girls both on their way to studying STEM subjects and during their studies. In doing so, we take into account the fact that the orientation phase begins as early as kindergarten age and extends until a successful career start.
- Creating role models: One way to support women in STEM is to create inspiring role models, whether current or historical. Have you heard of Johanna Weinmeister or Charlotte Bühler, for example? Diversity management projects are committed to raising awareness of these pioneering women in our university's history, right up to the outstanding women working in science today.

Services for school pupils in grades 1–8
Children love to experiment and discover new things. To inspire enthusiasm for science at an early age, students in grades 1 and up can participate in exciting interactive workshops and presentations tailored to their age group at TUD. Explorers up to grade 8 can find out what the JuniorCampus has to offer here. For prospective students in grades 9 and up, there is much more to explore at TEST OUR UNIVERSITY.
Parents can subscribe to the JuniorCampus newsletter for a quarterly update on our current scientific workshops and school break camps. The first newsletter was published in April 2022.
Services for school pupils in grades 9 and up
You might be asking yourself:
What do I want? What am I interested in? What can I do? What do I want to do later?
You can visit labs, get a taste of student life, or learn about degree programs – all while you are still in school. Work in an institute as an intern or enroll for an early study course. We also have exciting activities for pupils during the school vacations.

Networking for women studying STEM subjects
FLINTA* physics breakfast
Together with the Faculty Student Council for Physics, the FLINTA* physics breakfast is regularly organized in both the summer and winter semesters. All women, intersex, non-binary, trans and agender (FLINTA) people are invited to eat, chat and network. Everything you need to start the day off right is provided (coffee, tea, juice, bread rolls, fruit, spreads, etc.). Vegan options are also available.
The FLINTA* physics breakfast takes place regularly in REC/B101 from 8:30 am to 10:00 am. The exact dates are announced by email and on notices in the Faculty of Physics.
Meet-up for women in mechanical engineering
Since December 2012, the CRC/TRR 96 and the Equal Opportunities Officers of the Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering at TU Dresden have been organizing a student get-together so that women in mechanical engineering can network and learn from each other during their studies.

FUN - FrauenUmweltNetzwerk
Women working in environmental sciences will find themselves facing various challenges throughout their careers due to their gender. For this reason, the FrauenUmweltNetzwerk (FUN*) organizes workshops, training, networking activities, and job postings directly for women studying environmental sciences in order to provide them with targeted support.

Women's mentoring program for students and early-career researchers
The program is aimed at women students who have already reached their third semester in a STEM degree program and who are interested in actively shaping their professional future in science and research. Link to the program
The coordinator for STEM projects for women supports and networks existing STEM projects and is the contact person for new project ideas.
