Appointment Process
One of TU Dresden's primary goals is to continually increase the proportion of women holding professorships. Currently, the proportion of female professors is 16.3% (2018). By 2030, TU Dresden wants to achieve a percentage of women appointed to professorships in the range of 23-29%. The Gender Equality Concept revised in 2018 sets out a series of measures related to this process.
In order to make the demanding personnel selection procedure transparent, various tools are available to ensure equal opportunities in appointment procedures:
- Equality monitoring in appointment procedures - statistics sheet which increases transparency in application management;
- Equal opportunities in appointment procedures - A guide to the various stages of the appointment procedure, with guidance for members of the commission, which should be given particular attention to ensure transparency and equal opportunities;
- Gender equality in language and images - support in the preparation of calls for applications;
- Active recruitment materials - a collection of websites and practical tips for proactively recruiting excellent female scientists.
The Appointment Officer accompanies the processes from a legal point of view and is also available to all parties as an impartial liaison.
The Gender Equality Commission, headed by the Central Gender Equality Commissioner and Officer for the Protection of Women's Rights, works towards establishing equal opportunities for women and men. They submit recommendations and state their position on all matters relating to equality at the university, in particular on appointment procedures.
