bright minds have no gender - Historical female PhD students at TU Dresden
Making women in science visible! In recent years, TU Dresden has increasingly focussed on researching historical women who have shaped our university through their work and who have broken new ground as pioneers in science. Now it is time to put these women in the spotlight. The calendar is a further building block in this process.
The women depicted in the calendar were illustrated by the illustrator Viola Lippmann using historical photographs.
Every month you will find a detailed biography of a female historical scientist at TU Dresden to match the current calendar page.
The calendar can be obtained free of charge from Diversity Management at TU Dresden. Please send us an e-mail to or pick up your calendar directly from our office.
Through targeted measures, several historical female scientists have already been successfully made visible.
- Inauguration of the first women's site at TU Dresden in May 2023 in honour of Johanna and Gertrud Wiegandt
- Positioning historical female scientists as namesakes, such as the Johanna Weinmeister Campus or the Charlotte Bühler Programme. The Maria Reiche Postdoctoral Fellowships and the Eleonore Trefftz Programme were also named after outstanding female historical researchers at TU Dresden.
The important and inspiring role of women in the past and present will continue to be made visible through further initiatives in the future.
